Multimedia Databases MMDB

Database systems are used to manage persistent data. With the extension of database technologies to complex application domains it became obvious that classical technology is not sufficient to fulfil requirements from these applications like high performance, parallelization, distribution versioning, support for work flow, support for multi-media data. Beside the technical relevance, to develop a broad range of data management functionality, an economical relevance appeared in order to meet demands like high quality of information, reducing costs on development and maintenance of database systems and protecting older investments in legacy databases.
