Abstract
In the first part of this project an ActiveX control was developed that wraps an inference engine. This control, called SmileX , can be inserted in web-pages, applications made in several different languages and other software supporting ActiveX techniques. It implements an easy-access interface to the algorithms and procedures available in the C++ library SMILE.
In the second part of this project SmileX was applied to the decision problem of evaluating creditworthiness in consumer credit. A Bayesian network model was built in order to support decisions in this field. A consumer-oriented web-interface and a bank-oriented Excel-interface were developed to illustrate the use of both the model and the SmileX control developed in the first part of this project.
