    ABSTRACT:
This report concerns the research on an eye-feature extractor. In the next two chapters (chapter 2 and 3) a psychological basis is given for recognizing facial exertions and emotions. Chapter 4 describes a method that is developed by British Telecom Laboratories (BTL). This method is for a small part copied in this research. One of the points on which this research differs from the research of BTL, is the kind of neural network used. The eye-feature extractor is based on the CALM, a neural network with a biological/psychological background. CALM is examined in chapter 5. In chapter 6 the workbench to train the CALM networks is described and in chapter 7 the test results of the trained CALM networks are presented. Finally, chapter 8 the results are discussed, concluding with some recommendations.
