The performance of a case-based diagnosis system should be validated before it can be applied in a critical operational environment. This paper proposes a framework for a validation process of case-based diagnosis systems. This framework is developed from existing work on expert system validation and on evaluation and improvement of the performance of case-based reasoning systems. First results on implementation in the BRIDGE1 project are also presented.
